Shower Curtain- a Symbol of a New Life?

2016 was a year of dramatic change for me. It was the year my beloved daughter, and only child, graduated from high school and moved across the country to attend college. It was also the year that my husband and I ended our more than 20-year relationship/marriage.

With my daughter on the other side of the country, and myself failing to find a job on the Eastern side of the Mississippi River….yes, I tried to follow or at least get closer to the kid. I know- I hear it too.

I ended up taking a job that required an in-state move. For the first time in my life, I was about to live alone.

This is the story of how a shower curtain became important in my healing and a part of my story for the next phase of my life.

I have always been drawn to the design of spaces. I am good with color and furniture placement. But I was not using a lot of color in my previous home. After I moved, I decided I had to have this shower curtain from World Market. It was a lavish purchase at this point in time. It was full of color and designs and made me feel like I was happy or at least playing the role of happy.

The colors said adventure and new starts. It said take a breath and vision what is possible. It said make new routines and try new things.

This is the phase of life where I invented (though I did not recognize it at the time) my method for using music as affirmations. If you have read my Connection Catalyst booklet and started your own manifestation challenge- you are familiar.

So, using the colors to boost my mood and the music to keep me moving and grooving- just like Stella, I was telling a story to myself that there was more to come and I was worth it.

Again, I did not know it at the time, it would be years later in intensive course-work to be certified by the School of Intention as a Feng Shui practitioner, that I would realize how I was working with the energy of my home and putting myself in the driver's seat of my life.

At the time, it was some color in my life. Years later, it would be evidence that we can shape our experience. Now I make lot’s of choices to shape the energy and experience around me, but I look back with gratitude to the intuitive spark that carried me through.
